Rene Ghotanian, DDS MSc
Dr. Rene Ghotanian grew up and received his primary education in the Burbank/Glendale area of Southern California. Curiosity of working with his hands led him to the famous University of Southern California’s Dental School in 1991. Graduation from dental school he started a post doctorate program in surgery and research at Boston University under a NIH grant. He returned back home in 1996 and established a private practice in Burbank.
Currently his passion and interest in the field of dentistry is specifically surgery and implantology. He has graduated and completed many post doctoral fellowships in this field, including the highly regarded Loma Linda Fellowship where he is a proud lecturer.
Dr. Ghotanian is in a very small group of licensed and approved practitioners by the Dental Board of California in the field of intra venous sedation and anesthesia. Mastering this skill allows him to sedate patients under full monitoring in his state of the art surgical suite at his Encino office, for all surgical and implantology related procedures. The pursuit for excellence and advancement has taken him to the very elite and famous Goethe University in Frankfurt Germany. He has been a MOI (Master’s of Oral Implantology) candidate for the past couple of years.
Rene has earned a Master of Science in the field of Oral Implantology in early 2015. As a master’s student his thesis and research was in the field of immediate implantation in moral areas with out the use of grafting materials. With FDA approval he conducted a clinical trial of a new approach, which has never been tried. This new idea in implant surgery has proven to be very successful and is currently patent pending. He is currently lecturing internationally on the topic.
Dr. Ghotanian is a past clinical instructor at the UCLA School of Dentistry and actively lectures at Loma Linda University and the California Implant Institute. He is an Associate Fellow of the America Academy of Implant Dentistry and a Fellow and Master of the International Congress of Oral Implantology.
In his personal life Rene spends time as a private pilot and loves to ride his motorcycle.
